In a dramatic turn of events, Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Igboho has unleashed a scathing attack on the Federal Government, following the gruesome murder of three farmers in his hometown, Igboho, Oyo State. The activist, never one to shy away from controversy, is once again in the spotlight, demanding answers and action after the latest bloodshed in the South-West.
According to Igboho, the victims,Aderoju Mukaila, Olawuwo Saka, and Ojeniyi Ojebayo, were ambushed and killed by unidentified gunmen while simply tending to their farms. The community is now gripped by fear and anger, with many pointing fingers at the authorities for their alleged inaction.
“Three innocent people were killed in my town, Igboho. This is exactly what I have been warning the government about for years. Nothing has changed,” Igboho declared, seizing the moment to highlight what he calls the government’s “failure” to protect its citizens. He didn’t mince words, blaming the authorities for allowing armed groups to run rampant in the region.
In a statement that has quickly gone viral, Igboho called out President Bola Tinubu and security agencies, demanding immediate intervention. He painted a dire picture of the Oke-Ogun axis, claiming that insecurity has become a daily nightmare for residents. “I have consistently raised concerns about gunmen, bandits, and hoodlums infiltrating our communities,” he said, repeating his long-standing grievances.
Igboho insists that the latest attack should be a “wake-up call” for the government, warning that the patience of the people is wearing thin. He even hinted at the possibility of communities taking the law into their own hands if the authorities continue to “drag their feet.”
Not stopping there, Igboho demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the killers, urging security agencies to act on “actionable intelligence.” He accused the government of emboldening criminals by failing to deliver justice, further fueling the sense of insecurity in rural areas.
This incident is just the latest in a string of violent attacks plaguing not only Oyo State but also neighboring regions. Reports of killings, kidnappings, and banditry are on the rise, with Kwara and Kogi states also feeling the heat. The situation has sparked panic and heated debates among state officials and security experts.
Local leaders and residents are echoing Igboho’s outrage, slamming what they see as a lackluster government response. Many warn that if the authorities don’t step up, communities may be forced to take drastic measures to protect themselves.
As the nation reels from yet another tragedy, Sunday Igboho’s fiery statements have once again put the government under the microscope. With rural insecurity spiraling out of control, the pressure is mounting for decisive action, before the situation explodes even further.
