Don't judge a book by it's cover" applies to literally everything except books. When looking for a book to buy or read, the first thing that catches the eye is how attractive it looks. Na eye go chop first. There's this popular book that was trending a while back on social media. Everybody on "bookstagram" ( the reading community on Instagram) was raving about this book. I decided to look for it. When I found it, I was kind of disappointed on how mundane the cover of the book was so I put off on reading it until I was convinced enough to finally read it. I finally it and I can tell you that it's one of the few books I've read that wrecked me. It was so so good and I felt bad about writing it off at first.
Some of us are guilty of doing this. When we meet someone for the first time, we write them off based on the way they're dressed or even the way they respond to us. If there's one thing I've learnt in this my small life is not to be too quick to dismiss someone. Two of my close friends today are both people that I wrote off because of the first encounter I had with them. If I wasn't open to trying to get to know them, God knows I would have suffered with some of my courses in school because one of them has been a real blessing in my life. I think the absolute worst is when someone judges a person based off the opinion of another person. Don't you have a mind of your own? Are you a toddler? Well, I can imagine some cases where some of these things hold water but we're all grown and we should be able to have thoughts of our own and form opinions based on what we know of someone. If people dismissed me because of the first encounter they had with me, I don't think I'll have any friends because of how unapproachable I was. It was when I entered the university that I decided to allow myself to be free and open to anything and it has helped me to make some of the best friends I have today. Sha it is well o, God will see us through in this country.
