Soon the line began to move and Kenna wasted no time in covering the distance between hers and the car in front of her. The line moved again – a little faster this time. It was too good to be true.
Before she could understand what was happening, Kenna was driving freely down the expressway and getting closer to her home. She laughed. Maybe it was helpful to think wonderful thoughts.
She turned off her engine and took the key out of her ignition as she stopped in front of her beautiful two-storey house.
Kenna pressed a tiny remote button to shut the automatic gates behind her. She got out of the car and sauntered up to the front door but paused with her hand just above the door handle.
Something felt different.
Had someone broken in? She quickly glanced around the bare compound. No. Nothing looked out of place. Nothing was missing, in fact if anything the place looked…better.
Kenna pushed open the door and walked into the house. The lights came on as soon as she entered and she took in the large living room. When Kenna left for work this morning, there was a half-eaten plate of food on the center table right in front of the TV. She had left it there last night after trying to watch a movie and falling asleep before it even started. It wasn’t there anymore.
She moved past the living room into the dining area, expecting to find the two wine glasses that were there for the past two days. Surprise, surprise. The area was wiped clean.
There wasn’t a speck of dust to be found anywhere. Everything was neatly dusted, organized, washed and maybe even labelled.
At least she didn’t have to worry about cleaning day anymore.
