The Take It Back Movement, a prominent organizer of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, has sharply condemned the recent actions of the Nigeria Police Force against demonstrators in Abuja. On Friday, police officers stationed at Berger Roundabout resorted to teargassing protesters and journalists who had gathered for the second day of the protests.

Damilare Adenola, the Director of Mobilisation for the Take It Back Movement, issued a statement denouncing the police’s use of force. Adenola described the incident as a stark reminder that the Tinubu administration’s assurances of democratic principles are nothing but a facade. He criticized the administration’s failure to uphold human rights, which he believes only exacerbates the frustrations of the impoverished and hungry Nigerian citizens.

Adenola emphasized that such actions by law enforcement are likely to fuel further unrest among Nigerians, who are increasingly disillusioned with the current state of governance. The movement’s response underscores the growing tension between the government and its critics, highlighting ongoing concerns about civil liberties and democratic integrity in the country.
