Tinubu Appoints Yabuku As New DG Of Budget Office - 2 years ago

President Bola Tinubu appointed Tanimu Yakubu as the Director General of the Budget Office of the Federation on Thursday, replacing Ben Akabueze, whose tenure has ended. The announcement was made through a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

Tinubu commended Akabueze for his service to the nation and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Yakubu brings a wealth of experience to the role. He is a distinguished economist who served as Chief Economic Adviser to a former President from 2007 to 2010. Prior to that, he was the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria from 2003 to 2007, and Commissioner of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning in Katsina State from 1999 to 2003.

Yakubu holds a Master’s of Business Administration degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, both from Wagner College, Staten Island, New York.

The statement highlighted that President Tinubu expects Yakubu to enhance the provision of efficient and qualitative budget functions, promoting fiscal sustainability, transparency, and accountability in public finance management for national development.
