Gabriel Jesus believes Bukayo Saka has already earned his place alongside the most feared wide forwards in world football, insisting the Arsenal star “sits at the same table” as Brazil’s Rodrygo, Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube channel, the Arsenal striker was asked to rank Saka among the game’s elite wingers. Jesus did not hesitate.
“At the same table,” he replied when Ferdinand mentioned the Brazilian trio. “They are all the same. Obviously, we are talking about momentum and different styles, but they all have their qualities and have had an impact in one big moment. So Bukayo is there as well. Obviously, you still need to win trophies, but this he will get.”
Saka’s influence at Arsenal has grown season on season. Operating predominantly from the right flank, he has already reached nine goals in all competitions this campaign, six of them in the Premier League, including one from the penalty spot. Beyond the numbers, his consistency and reliability in decisive moments have made him a central figure in Mikel Arteta’s project.
For Jesus, however, it is Saka’s character that truly sets him apart.
“I am a big fan of Bukayo’s personality because this guy is so humble. And he is strong, but so humble,” Jesus said. “Today in football it is not something that is easy, to see someone that comes from the academy and then being so big in the club or in the team or in football, and then he has stayed the same.”
Arsenal’s rise under Arteta has put Saka at the heart of a title challenge. The team sits top of the league, ahead of Manchester City, and Jesus believes this could be the season that ends the club’s long wait for a Premier League crown.
“I am very confident. Very confident, because we are in a good place and we have amazing squad,” the Brazilian forward said. “I believe 100% that this season we are doing something.”
For Jesus, there is no doubt: Saka is already operating at the level of the world’s finest wingers, and the silverware, he insists, will follow.
