Anthony Joshua Mourns Close Friends At London Central Mosque Funeral - 1 month ago

British boxing star Anthony Joshua stood with a heavy heart on Sunday at the London Central Mosque, as family, friends and the wider community gathered to say final prayers for his two closest friends and team members, Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.

The pair, who worked with Joshua for years as part of his training team, tragically lost their lives in a car crash in Nigeria on December 29, 2025, when the SUV they were travelling in collided with a stationary truck on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. Joshua, who was also in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries, attended the Janazah (funeral prayer) before their burial, surrounded by mourners offering condolences.

In his first public response since the accident, Joshua shared poignant images of himself alongside the families of Ghami and Ayodele on social media, captioning the post “My Brother’s Keeper” a message reflecting his deep bond with the departed.

As tributes poured in from fans and fellow athletes worldwide, the funeral offered a solemn moment of reflection on the loss of two men described not just as colleagues but as “brothers” in Joshua’s life.

The driver involved in the crash has since been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and related offences, and the incident continues to prompt conversations about road safety.
