We will be home playing around and my mum will say, “Your father is coming back tomorrow” or most times, she doesn’t tell but the aroma in the kitchen sends the message. We will start cleaning and arranging our books for inspection. Me that was fond of drawing inside my book pages will start tearing them up (tampering with evidence). When he starts inspection, it was never  funny, he will para, advice and punish. That’s the day my mum will report our misbehaviors. We would be using style to beg her but she will always report o. People that go to the game shop, people that like yawo, people that don’t like going for errands, people that can watch film for Africa (I was the chairman).

One time, Karate Kid just came out, I borrowed it from Job. We were watching it at night, before we could rush to the TV, off it and pretend to be asleep, my dad came to the parlor o, visibly angry. It was 1am in the morning. He rushed to the DVD, got the disc and broke it to pieces. I almost cried. The next morning, I woke up with a serious frown o. After all the para, the frowning intensified. My face only lit up when he asked, how much is the film? Go and buy it and return it to the owners. Who said Joy doesn’t come in the morning? But omo I find Karate Kid tire to no avail. I bought something else sha. Power Rangers: Samurai (I wish I can go back and collect my money cause wth)

Growing up. When my Dad says, “Come and escort me”, Its all joy, you will not come back empty-handed o (facts). Just be prepared to greet everybody on the way and make sure you don’t trip on the way (waka well) and prepare to listen to gist for hours when he meets a friend. We eventually outgrew it so when he said, “escort me”, we find an excuse to get out of it. No excuse has ever worked. I am a regular and one evil stone always makes me trip on the way. Satan. I go just dey vex but in the end, the escort always gets an extra treat during lunch or dinner. Good times.
