Effective leadership is essential in guiding individuals, organization and the entire society through complex challenges and change. Mai,Do and Ho-Nguyen demonstrably define leadership as cognitive competence , interpersonal competence and result-oriented competence. Leadership is the ability to lead and carry others along.A good leader must be humble and ready to serve others, listen to suggestions, opinions, ideas and problems of his followers. He must demonstrate perseverance, resilience, spirit of forgiveness and also activeness and smartness in everything he does.

There are many key types of Leadership that are commonly discussed in the field of management and they are; Charismatic, Authoritative,Transformative leadership and many more. Atwater,Penn and Rucker defined Charismatic Leadership as a behaviour disposition or personality which inspires reliance and respect,as well as improves heightened performance and contentment among followers.

The characteristics which best distinguish Charismatic from non charismatic leaders are their personalities, and these  are perseverance, insightfulness, vision, resilience, purposefulness, confident, enterprising and nonconformist. They also have lofty ideals and purpose, the ability to express their goals and ambition, persistent in the pursuit of change in their environment.

One of the historical figures who demonstrated great Leadership skills was Nelson Mandela who had a clear and insightful vision. He was a political activist,a former president of South Africa ;who fought for the anti-apartheid movement.

Despite the fact that he was imprisoned, and faced setbacks and obstacles,he never relented or lost his goals and zeal for a bright future. He preached resilience and forgiveness rather than vengeance and this helped him to overcome his obstacles.

Mandel's ability to maintain hope and focus could inspire and empower modern day activists facing global problems.Leaders can also learn from Mandel's approach in his principled vision and purpose, courage and resilience and in his inclusive reconciliating approach in terms of forgiveness.
