Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, praised the peaceful protests in the state amidst economic hardships. Addressing demonstrators at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara appreciated their orderly conduct and genuine desire for change. He reassured the youths of his administration’s commitment to improving the state's economy and welfare.

Acknowledging the economic difficulties, Governor Fubara emphasized the importance of addressing the protesters’ concerns promptly. “The peaceful nature of your protests shows a genuine desire for positive change,” he stated. He urged protesters to maintain patience and trust in his administration’s economic reforms, while cautioning against those who might incite violence.

Following his interaction with the protesters, Governor Fubara met with the State Executive Council and the committee for the Rivers Economic and Investment Summit. The committee presented several key initiatives, including an Investment Promotion Council, a digital economy hub, and support for SMEs.

Governor Fubara pledged to implement these recommendations, stressing the urgency of economic improvement in response to the protests. “Economic hardships are a significant factor behind the protests,” he noted, committing to sustainable development and creating a conducive environment for investment and growth.
