Chapter 5: The Alien Encounter
Detective Yang stepped into the room, his eyes adjusting to the dim light. The air was thick with an otherworldly scent, like ozone and lavender mixed. A figure sat behind a desk, shrouded in shadows.
"Welcome, Detective Yang," the figure said, its voice low and resonant. "I am The Keeper."
Yang's instincts screamed warning, but he stood firm. "I'm investigating the death of Mr. Richardson. I understand Rachel is connected to your organization."
The Keeper nodded, its face still hidden. "Yes. Rachel is one of ours. And Mr. Richardson... was a valuable asset."
Yang's grip on his gun tightened. "What do you mean?"
The Keeper leaned forward, its face illuminated by a faint, pulsing glow. Yang gasped as he saw the alien features – the angular jaw, the large, black eyes, the pale, almost translucent skin.
"Mr. Richardson had discovered something... significant," The Keeper said, its voice dripping with an unsettling intensity. "Something that threatened our very existence. We had to silence him."
Yang's mind raced. Aliens? Existence? What was he dealing with?
Suddenly, The Keeper vanished, leaving Yang alone in the dark room. The detective spun around, his gun drawn, but there was no one there. The door slid open, and he stumbled out into the bright sunlight, gasping for air.
As he looked back at the building, he saw the symbol etched into the wall – the same one he had seen at Rachel's apartment and on the mysterious device. Yang knew he had to get to the bottom of this. But where could he turn?
