Air conditioning (AC) is a lifesaver in hot weather, but what happens to your body if you spend all day every day in a cool, conditioned room?
AC works its magic by regulating temperature and improving air quality, which can prevent heat-related illnesses.
Modern AC systems often include filters that remove dust, pollen, and other airborne particles, thereby improving indoor air quality and reducing the risk of respiratory issues. Dr Satish C Reddy, Consultant at CARE Hospitals, explained the benefits and potential drawbacks of constant AC exposure, along with tips for staying cool and healthy indoors.
According to Dr Reddy,by reducing humidity and filtering out allergens, AC can help also alleviate symptoms for people with allergies or asthma. Dr Reddy also stated that sitting in a constantly cool room can have several consequences, such as; dehydration, weaker defenses, breathing issues, dryness and stiffness.
Here are some tips from Dr Reddy to enjoy its benefits while minimising the downsides: drink plenty of water, add a humidifier to prevent dry skin, take breaks outdoor, ensure you regularly clean your AC to prevent the growth of bacteria and finally moisturise regularly.
By following these steps, you can create and maintain a healthy indoor environment while enjoying the comfort of air conditioning.
