Morality is based on the ground of collectively, agreed social contract abided by the members of social groups, be it culturally or legally …the basis of which is to ensure the smooth operation of their society.
Universally, the most basic morality to apply for the stability of societies is : (do not do to others what you wouldn’t want to be done to you). This principle appeals to most people intrinsically, minus those who are sociopathic. Hence we can say that most of us are genetically programmed to be “moral”.
