Baba Ijesha's Controversial Release Sparks Outrage - 3wks ago

Nollywood’s notorious figure, Olarenwaju Omiyinka, better known as Baba Ijesha, has found himself at the center of a sensational scandal that is sending shockwaves through the entertainment industry! Reports surfaced claiming that he had been exonerated by the Court of Appeal, but these claims have been soundly debunked by Lagos State Attorney-General, Lawal Pedro, SAN, who didn't hold back in calling them “false, misleading, and irresponsible.”

Pedro’s scathing statement to the press has raised eyebrows, particularly after fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi bizarrely declared on social media that Baba Ijesha was entirely cleared of all charges, including horrific sexual offences against a minor! This shocking misinformation has been labeled a “complete distortion of the judicial record” by Pedro, who is clearly alarmed at the potential public panic this could provoke.

The facts are even more alarming: Baba Ijesha was convicted by the Lagos High Court on July 14, 2022, for the serious crimes of sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child, which stemmed from heinous acts in 2021. He was sentenced to a staggering five years for sexual assault and three years for indecent treatment, with both sentences shockingly running concurrently. Yet despite the gravity of the situation, confusion reigns supreme!

Fast forward to June 28, 2024: while the Court of Appeal did set aside some older convictions, it upheld the terrifying sentence for the 2021 charges! And what’s more, Baba Ijesha’s attempts to appeal to the Supreme Court were dashed as his case was struck out for incompetence. His desperate pleas for justice were rejected again on October 9, 2025, leaving his convictions intact.

Pedro made it crystal clear that Baba Ijesha’s release was simply due to him serving his full sentence, not because he is innocent of the charges! “Mr. Olanrewaju James was NOT cleared of sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child,” he emphasized, pointing fingers at Fabiyi and others spreading these outrageous lies. He warned that they could face severe legal repercussions under Section 39 of the Lagos Criminal Law for inciting public fear!

The saga continues to unravel, showcasing the messy intersection of celebrity, justice, and public opinion in this high-profile case. As misinformation spreads like wildfire, one thing is clear: we must stay vigilant and demand the truth! The battle for justice is far from over!
