Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has declared Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a public holiday to celebrate the state’s 50th anniversary.
The announcement was made in a statement issues on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi.
Talabi said that "the public holiday is to enable residents to fully participate in activities lined up for the Golden Jubilee celebration."
According to the statement, “the anniversary marks five decades of Ogun State political existence, growth, and significant contributions to national development.”
He urged residents to commemorate peacefully and take advantage of the holiday.
Ogun State was created on February 3, 1976. This celebration will feature activities aimed at reflecting on the past, celebrating progress, and projecting the state's future.
