Day 0035 of 1000 Days.
The Secret Source of My Father's Wealth
PROLOGUE.
It was 9:05 PM that evening. My mum had forgotten that she needed to buy salt. I was given the money to quickly go to Mama Ayo's place to get the salt.
Along the road, I saw a man garbed in an Agbada and Sokoto. Beads were adorned all over him and his pair of shoes showed that he was from an elite class. I wondered where he was going that night but gazing and studying him made me realize that my parents were still lagging behind.
The echoes of some strange men jerked me back to reality. I saw six men as they scurried out of the bush. A woman was seen among them. Each of them was with a gun. I hid myself when I saw them.
The man who I sensed to be wealthy was beaten to pulp. His clothes were taken off and he was left with nothing but his underwears.
One of the strange men was compassionate. ‘This man here does not deserve this treatment. We were supposed to rob him of his wealth, right?’
None of them responded but they continued the beating and the punching.
After what seemed like a crime fiction, the men all ran back to the bush after taking the wealthy man's valuables along with them.
I came out of my lurking place and beheld the man. He was about to die. His face was reddish. His eyes were swollen and blood was dripping from his mouth.
I thought of saving the man but it was quite late. What if someone met me here and accused me of killing the man? I had better do something I would not regret throughout my entire life.
