“What?!” I exclaimed in shock standing upright. “Since when did you know this? How come I am just finding this out now?” I couldn’t believe he had been keeping things from me, important things like my safety.
“You need to calm down and listen to me.” He raised his voice above mine and I looked at him, even though I was boiling with rage.
“When I found out about it I called Summer, being your bodyguard and I informed her about the situation.” He continued
“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I scoffed.
“We didn’t have any concrete evidence except for a witness who claimed to have seen someone who looked like Barth behind the flowers just before the shooting started. We didn’t want to alert you since we were still working on the case. So, Summer agreed to keep an eye on Barth in the meantime.” He added. My heart was bubbling inside me as I began to connect the dots.
“And keeping an eye on him involved her going out with him?” I asked and he nodded.
“She felt that was the only way to know what he was up to and to distract him before the investigation is over.” He explained softly.
