I’ve always believed that when you have a voice, you have a responsibility. That’s why I couldn’t ignore what’s happening to Christians in Nigeria. This isn’t just another headline or a trending topic for me,this is personal. Nigeria isn’t some faraway place I mention for clout. My connection runs deep. My fans there, the Nigerian Barbs, have shown me so much love and loyalty. My own pastor is Nigerian. I have friends, mentors, and a spiritual family from that country. When I hear about the violence and persecution they face, I can’t just scroll past and pretend it’s not happening. I owe it to them, and to myself,to speak up.
When I learned about Christians being kidnapped, attacked, or even killed just for gathering to worship, I was outraged. How can anyone with a conscience not be? This isn’t just a Nigerian problem. This is a human problem. When people are targeted for their faith, it’s an attack on all of us. I refuse to let the world look away. We should all be outraged, and we should all demand action.
Too many people take religious freedom for granted. In some places, people have to hide their faith, whisper their prayers, and risk their lives just to worship. That’s not right. I can’t stand by while innocent people are forced to live in fear. We need to remember them, support them, and fight for their right to believe and worship freely. That’s what justice demands.
Some people questioned why I responded to President Trump’s post about Christianity being under threat in Nigeria. The answer is simple: he was right to call attention to it, and I was right to echo that concern. I’m grateful for the freedom I have, and I won’t take it for granted while others suffer. I have a platform, and I’m going to use it to amplify the voices of those who are being silenced. The world needs to wake up and take action.
I also want to give credit where it’s due. President Trump and Vice President JD Vance understand what ordinary people are going through, both here and abroad. They know that religious freedom isn’t just a talking point,it’s a fundamental right that needs to be protected. We need strong leaders who aren’t afraid to call out injustice and stand up for what’s right. Silence and indifference only help the oppressors. I’m done keeping quiet. I won’t let fear or criticism stop me from standing up for my beliefs and for people who are suffering.
My decision to speak out has resonated with so many, especially my Nigerian fans who finally feel seen and supported. I know some people think celebrities should stay out of politics or global issues, but I disagree. If you have influence, you have a duty to use it for good. I’m not going to apologize for that. I’m going to keep fighting for what’s right, no matter who tries to silence me.
The situation in Nigeria is urgent, and the world can’t afford to look away. I’m calling on everyone, fans, leaders, and fellow artists,to join me in defending the rights and dignity of those who are persecuted for their beliefs. This is about justice, humanity, and doing what’s right. I refuse to stay silent, and I hope others will find the courage to speak out too.
