The Adamawa State Government has announced extensive traffic restrictions and appealed for a massive public turnout as President Bola Tinubu undertakes a one-day working visit to the state.
In a public statement, Commissioner for Information and Strategy Iliya James said several major routes in the state capital, Yola, and its environs would be temporarily closed to traffic to facilitate the president’s movement and ensure security.
Roads affected include the Airport–Kofare corridor through Galadima Aminu Way and Bank Road, the Jimeta Grade Interchange and Police Roundabout axis, Justice Buba Ardo Way, the Adamawa Sunshine Express–Faro Road, and a network of adjoining streets expected to form part of the presidential motorcade route.
James urged residents to come out “peacefully” to welcome Tinubu, describing the visit as a significant moment for the state. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes and to comply fully with traffic diversions during the period of the closures.
The visit is anchored on the inauguration of a string of projects executed by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration, which the state government says cut across critical sectors of public life.
Among the flagship projects slated for commissioning are the newly constructed underpass at the former Bekaji Roundabout and the expanded Bank Road in Yola, both designed to ease congestion and improve urban mobility. Tinubu is also expected to inaugurate a model school in Yola North Local Government Area, one of 21 such schools built to boost access to quality education across Adamawa.
The president will additionally perform the groundbreaking for a new National Youth Service Corps permanent orientation camp in Malkohi, a facility projected to enhance the welfare and training of corps members posted to the state.
Other projects on the schedule include an ultra-modern High Court Complex aimed at strengthening justice delivery, an automated gate at Government House, and a newly constructed Governor’s Office complex, which officials say will modernise the state’s administrative hub.
Security agencies have intensified operations ahead of the visit. The Adamawa State Police Command has deployed specialised units, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Surveillance Squad, and Crowd and Traffic Control teams, to maintain order along the president’s route and at all event venues.
The command also disclosed that covert surveillance would run concurrently with visible deployments to ensure what it described as a peaceful and incident-free presidential visit.
