"John, you are a man; therefore, you have every right to command your wife. Why assist her in making choices? Have you forgotten that you were given the mandate to be superior over her?"
Samuel threw these questions at John when he visited his home and found him assisting his beloved wife.
There is a common perspective that many people hold in this world—the belief that men are superior to women.
However, the power to overcome such perceptions lies in knowledge.
The idea that men are superior to women has fueled a mindset in some couples that leads them to pray for male children while disregarding female ones. Some husbands even divorce their wives or take mistresses just for the sake of having a male child in the family.
Little or no power of authority is given to the female child. This often leaves them voiceless during decision-making, limits their participation in politics, and restricts their opportunities in many other areas.
While some accept the belief that women are the weaker vessels, others challenge traditions that place men above women and instead embrace the concept of equality.
A girl child is just as important as her male counterpart. She is capable of achieving great things—perhaps even more than the opposite gender.
The most remarkable fact is that girls are naturally loving, caring, and tender-hearted. Women express the deepest love and are often the ones left to care for aging parents. Parents with grown children can attest to this.
Even after marriage, a woman continues to support and care for her parents more than a male child typically does.
The advantages of a female child over a male child cannot be overlooked.
Gender equality is the solution.
