"Love In Every Word...RIDICULOUS"" - 7 months ago

Around February, Nollywood released a YouTube movie that made a lot of rounds on the Internet, especially Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. With the popular phrase, "Achalugo, I am going to marry you... Odogwu please!".  Now that the dust has settled, let's talk about reality, most especially the unsettling reality of the entertainment industry.

It is true that movies are basically entertainment driven, so we're tempted to be oversensational in how we tell a story, and even the stories we tell. But there are more factors that must count, such as education, cultural appropriation and so on. The Nigerian movie industry, has become over simplified and sensational in their manner of story telling, be it drama or romance, especially on YouTube a it's completely RIDICULOUS.
BUT what is not Ridiculous is how love in every word stayed true to reality, The movie was short of no aspects, Portraying the reality of trauma and love, hard work and endurance, patience, faithfulness, friendship, femininity and masculine aura. With an amazing cast, such a cast that I'm in denial of why they are not featured on bigger blockbusters in the industry.
Love in every word was a masterpiece and it is proof of its popularity. Although personally, there was an excessive show of romance, such as kissing, or the demand for and eventual sex before marriage. even when it was consensual, it tells a lot about how much our cultural value has deteriorated today.

For someone that dislikes modern Nollywood romance, especially those that are on YouTube, This is one among the very few that I enjoyed. Sincerely wished the movie went longer or at least explored more of the kind of trauma 'achalugo' faced. Which is actually the centred theme. It would have added a huge credit to the entire movie. Saying she had a trauma wasn't enough for me, a flashback to the experience and why it affected her so badly would have been premium. It sounded like a mere excuse to me, even though I recognize the bitter reality of traumas.
There's a principle in cinematography I think is the Most important. Which is the rule that states, "Show, don't Tell"

Kudos to more amazing movies. not watching out for the next Nollywood romance, especially on YouTube, but let's see.
