Things We All Say When Friday Finally Comes - 4 hours ago

 Friday.

That beautiful day when the entire week suddenly feels worth surviving.

From Monday to Thursday, everybody is counting down.

Monday feels unnecessarily long.

Tuesday is somehow still Monday.

Wednesday is the middle of nowhere.

Thursday is when you begin seeing the light.

Then Friday arrives.

TGIF!

Suddenly, everybody's mood changes.

The person who complained about work all week is now smiling.

The student who has been tired since Monday suddenly has energy.

The employee who spent the entire week saying, “I can't wait for the weekend,” is finally free.

Friday has a different atmosphere.

People start making plans.

“What are we doing tonight?”

“Are we going out?”

“Where are we hanging out?”

“I'm not staying indoors this weekend.”

Meanwhile, another person is already saying:

“I'm not going anywhere. I just want to sleep.”

And honestly, both people have a point. 😂

After a stressful week, sometimes all you want is your bed, your favourite food, your phone and absolutely nobody disturbing you.

Then there are those who make big weekend plans on Friday afternoon.

“This weekend is going to be different!”

They have plans to visit friends, attend events, go shopping, take pictures, watch movies, eat good food and maybe even clean their room.

By Saturday morning:

“Let's continue this sleep first.” 😂

And somehow, Friday also gives people confidence.

You start making promises:

“I'm not thinking about Monday.”

“No work talk this weekend.”

“I'm going to enjoy myself.”

“I'm deleting my office WhatsApp group notifications.”

Then Sunday evening arrives.

And the entire country remembers Monday exists.

Suddenly:

“Where did the weekend go?”

The weekend that felt so long on Friday somehow disappears by Sunday night.

But perhaps that's why Friday feels so special.

It's not just another day.

For many people, Friday represents relief.

It means you survived another demanding week.

It means you can breathe a little.

It means you can spend time with friends and family, rest, attend church, watch movies, eat something nice, go out, or simply stay in bed without feeling guilty.

So when Nigerians shout:

“TGIF!”

We're not just celebrating Friday.

We're celebrating the fact that we made it through another week. 😂
