" Any day you lift a finger on her, I will find you." My older brother droned. His voice, the peace of still waters.

I gasped in disbelief. "Is Victor threatening my fiance?" I soliloquized, brimming with bitterness.

Sauntering to a corner, I listened, but the sea of silence between them engulfed my senses. He was calm and collected like he hadn't pushed a button that could end my marriage before its voyage.

My wedding was just a week away. What will become of me if it gets cancelled? I fume, about to spill volcanic ash.

Seconds later, Desmond excused himself, and I gripped the opportunity as tight as my hand around Victor's wrist.

" What have you done? You know how much I love him!" My eyes gleamed with tears.

He dabbed my eyes with his handkerchief and tilted my head, up to his narrowed eyes. " I will rather have you brokenhearted, than fade in a marriage.

You're my sister. My blood! If I have to beat some senses into you to open your eyes, I will do it!" He rebuked with an unnerving composure.

I kicked off his hands, and darted into the guestroom where I knew my heart desire would be.

Standing with his back to the door , I met his fist balled. I quivered and broke towards him in a haste that was shushed at once.

" Don't dare touch me! Did you put him up to this? So, you brought me to your family home just to show off and rattle me, huhh?!

Well, good news for you. I'm done!"

“ No... please. Desmond you can't just call off our wedding because of him....”

" I can...." He said and violently nudged me aside, leaving with his luggage.

I was frozen from the core. Dried to the bones, I jerked and pounced at my brother's chest the moment he showed up at the door.

" This is all your fault...are you happy now?" I stuttered between sobs. He took it all without a word, and thus hours ticked into days and days into weeks. Desmond disappeared without a trace. I sought him to the moon, but he shunned me to death. Silent tears reigned in my life, until I embraced myself again.

I severed ties with my brother, and traveled out of the country.

Five years later, I'm seated in judgement of a case involving a defendant accused of the murder of his pregnant wife. Proud and lofty, he smiled at me like we were lovers from the break of day. I found him guilty to my dismay. Now, I'm going to ensure that other women are protected from him, just like my angel brother.

" Mr Desmond Hill...I hereby sentence you to life imprisonment without bail." I declared, and the next hour, I steered away in search of my angel brother.
