🎯 WE HAVE A SHEPHERD
📖BIBLE TEXT: ISAIAH 40:1-11, PSALM 23
🔎📖 Isaiah 40:11 “He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart; He gently leads those that have young.”
The returnees must have felt desperate and overwhelmed by their environmental and existential challenges. Anyone in that state would need assurance from someone that is higher than the situation and unaffected by it. God gave them that assurance with the metaphor of the Shepherd. They understood that the sheep has nothing to worry about when the shepherd is there. In the same way, God wants us to be assured that all is well, because He is our ever present Shepherd and we shall not want.
👉🏽 ADONAI IS MY SHEPHERD
Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”
God, like the nomadic shepherd, takes charge of provision and protection of the sheep all the time. In our case, it is not a desert wandering nomad affected by the arid conditions of the desert, but The LORD (ADONAI). The title Adonai implies the Maker, the Keeper and the sole Owner of the universe. The Unlimited God to whom the whole universe accounts to. The Immortal, Invisible and Almighty Unchanging Changer. He is The LORD! We can look at the storm and say, that ADONAI, who has just been described, is my personal Shepherd and guide. This understanding is a huge consolation and stabilizer in any situation. We shall soar like eagles!
👉🏽 I SHALL NOT WANT
Psalm 23:1 “I shall not want.”
Knowing that He is our Shepherd, we know that we shall not want. When we are hungry, we have Him as our JIREH! When we are sick, He is our RAPHA. When we are lonely, He is our NISSI. When we are troubled, he is our SHALOM! When we are surrounded by foes, He is our ELGIBOR. We are so covered on all sides that Satan‘s attempt to threaten us is just a clever fraud! We are insured by the integrity of our ADONAI and assured by His personal interest in us. So we can look at the darkest storm and shout, ADONAI is my Shepherd! I shall not want! Halleluyah!

PRAYER 🙏🏾
My LORD GOD! I worship You because You are the ADONAI. I am overwhelmed by the revelation that You are also my Shepherd. I submit my heart to You and declare that in all things and at all times, I shall not want, in Jesus name. Amen!
