On a Monday afternoon, during a free period, I rushed to the library to study and complete an assignment. While searching for a book on the shelf, I collided with Minari, who was standing opposite me. "What a coincidence!" I exclaimed in a hushed tone. Minari was equally astonished and quickly turned to face me.
I couldn't help but notice how dashing he looked, dressed impeccably as always. His refreshing mint scent and piercing eyes, like snow in the night, left me captivated. "Small school," he said softly, "I was just thinking about you. Thank God."
We exchanged pleasantries and had a brief conversation. Minari shared that he was in his final year, studying fine arts. I teasingly said, "I see how you are a work of art." He was surprised to learn that I was studying engineering.
As he spoke, I found myself entranced by his gentlemanly demeanor. We discovered that we hailed from different states - he from Lagos and I from Kaduna. Minari assumed I was Muslim due to my name and appearance, but he was mistaken. Although I come from a mixed family, with my maternal grandfather being Muslim, Minari was a Christian.
Our encounter was fleeting, as I realized I was running late for my next lecture. We hastily exchanged contacts before I left for class, leaving me eager to continue our conversation another time.
