Vitinha Calls Madrid Exit Talk “Foolish” As PSG Star Commits Future To Paris - 4 days ago

Vitinha has moved to shut down mounting speculation over a summer move to Real Madrid, insisting it would be “foolish” to walk away from Paris Saint-Germain at this stage of his career.

The Portugal international midfielder, regarded as one of the most complete playmakers in Europe, has emerged as a prime target for Madrid as they look to refresh their engine room for the coming seasons. Reports in Spain and France have linked him heavily with a switch to the Bernabéu, but the player himself has poured cold water on the idea.

Speaking to Portuguese broadcaster Canal 11, the 26-year-old underlined both his professional and personal contentment in the French capital. “It would be foolish to leave. I don’t think it would be the best thing for me at the moment. I feel very good here at PSG. I love being here, and so does my family,” he said, stressing that his decision is rooted in stability rather than short-term glamour.

Vitinha highlighted the environment created by coach Luis Enrique and the dressing room as central to his thinking. “We have a fantastic group and an incredible coach. I feel that people appreciate me a lot and I feel that I have earned that affection,” he added.

Since joining PSG from FC Porto in 2022, Vitinha has become a cornerstone of the club’s midfield. He has already collected an impressive haul of silverware, including Ligue 1, the Champions League and the Coupe de France, contributing to a total of 11 trophies in Paris colours.

His individual rise has matched that team success. The playmaker capped a standout year by finishing third in the Ballon d’Or voting, behind Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal and PSG teammate Ousmane Dembélé, underlining his status among the global elite.

Vitinha’s commitment extends beyond turning down Madrid. Asked about the prospect of a lucrative move to the Saudi Pro League, he was equally firm. “Let’s not be naive. I’m more committed to having a stable career. I already earn very well here in Europe, at a big club. Doubling or tripling that salary wouldn’t make me any happier.”

With six goals and eight assists in 34 appearances this season, Vitinha remains central to PSG’s push on multiple fronts, as the French champions sit atop Ligue 1 and prepare for a Champions League last-16 clash with Chelsea.
