Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo expressed his pride in his team’s performance after they secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield, marking their first win there since 1969. Despite missing key players due to injuries, Forest clinched the Premier League triumph on Saturday.
Substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi made the difference, scoring the game’s only goal, ensuring Forest's unbeaten start to the season continues, now with two wins and two draws.
"Many of our fans here today weren’t even born the last time we won at Anfield, which shows how challenging it is to play here," Espirito Santo told reporters. "I’m proud of the team. It's all about seizing the right moments, and we did that."
Forest had to cope without midfielders Danilo, who fractured his ankle last month, and Ibrahim Sangare, sidelined with a hamstring issue. Defender Willy Boly was also unavailable due to a calf injury.
"Ibrahim will be out for a while, unfortunately," the manager added. "We want all our players fit, but we must be prepared to adapt."
Nicolas Dominguez and Elliott Anderson, both central midfielders, were utilized as wingers to help contain Liverpool’s attacking full-backs, demonstrating the tactical flexibility that paid off in this historic win.
