Day 0054 of 1000 Days.
The Secret Source of My Father's Wealth
Part Fourteen.
'Danjuma, you already saw Dan, my gate keeper, yesterday', Mr Kunle muttered quietly as he entered my room.
It was a cool day and I realized that Dan can be a shorten form of Danjuma. I smiled and continued to go through the article Mr Kunle gave me yesterday. He told me to be reading it so as to re-ignite my reading skill.
We moved to the kitchen and I saw a wiry man. 'This is Bob, my chef'. I stared at Bob. And for what looked like eternity, I contemplated on how a man in charge of food can look so unfed. Even his 'Nice to meet you, sir', was brushed away by my thoughts.
'He is in charge of food but he looked as if he does not eat at all', I whispered into Mr Kunle's ears.
Mr Kunle laughed out loudly. 'Do not be rude, Danjuma'.
I smiled and Bob smiled too. I think that was a theatrical display to camouflage his aching embarrassment. But did he hear me?
We marched to the laundry and I saw the laundry man. He was as wiry as the Chef. What was the chef's name again? Hum... I would find out later.
'This is Muhammed. He is in charge here', Mr Kunle chuckled and then sniffed. Why did he chuckle? Muhammed must be a jester. I had thought.
'Oga Danjuma, Oga Kunle don tell me about you wella'. No wonder Mr Kunle chuckled. Muhammmed was definitely a village boy who saw not the school walls.
As we moved out of the laundry room, I was left wondering why Mr Kunle's house helps are all male.
