🎯 THE LORD’S PRAYER
ASK FOR BREAD

🔎📖 MATTHEW 6:1-13
🎯📖 Matthew 6:11 “Give us this day our daily bread.”

The Lord’s Prayer charges us to ask for ‘our daily bread each time we pray. Jesus implies that this bread is ours and it is meant to give us nourishment and strength for our daily challenges. Today, many people are failing in their commitments for lack of strength. Proverbs 24:10 rightly warns that, “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.” However, Hebrews 4:16 calls us to “come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” If you don’t want to faint in these adverse times, then ask God for your daily common and uncommon bread.

👉🏽 COMMON BREAD
Matthew 4:4 “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
Lamentations 5:6 “We submitted to Egypt and Assyria for the sake of bread.”

Food is a global issue today and the United Nations Food Program keeps warning us of global hunger due to inflations and famines in various places. Jesus charges us to ask God for bread! Remember that Psalm 34:10 “assures us that though lions may hunger for lack of food, we shall never lack anything good.” God will supply our food in Jesus name. However, when Satan tried to trap Jesus by suggesting he should turn stones to bread, Jesus replied that bread alone would not sustain anyone. Unfortunately, many people live today just for common bread to satisfy the stomach. Many even compromise (turning to Egypt and Assyria) for bread. Be assured that God will supply our bread. However, set your heart to go beyond seeking common bread to the uncommon bread.

👉🏽 OUR UNCOMMON BREAD
1 Samuel 21:4 “And the priest said to David, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread.”

1Kings 19:7-8 “And the angel of the Lord said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for you. And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

The priest told David that they had uncommon bread still remaining in the tabernacle, because the common bread had finished. We can safely assume that common bread finished because it had a higher demand from seekers at the throne room. This also suggests that each time we ask God for daily bread, He wants to know, which one we want. The common or the uncommon bread? While some people just ask for grace to live ordinary lives, there is uncommon bread at the altar for those who want to go farther like Elijah to manifest beyond the ordinary life. They seek God for the grace for uncommon manifestation. God gives physical food for the physical strength, but He also gives spiritual food for spiritual strength to last the stretch. Let us arise and  ask for both the common and the uncommon bread.

Please meditate and pray with the hymn of Maryjohn Wilkin, Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah.

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah
Pilgrim through this barren land
I am weak, but Thou art mighty
Hold me with Thy powerful hands
Bread of heaven, feed me now and evermore

Open now the crystal fountain
Whence the healing waters flow
Let the fiery, cloudy pillar
Lead me all my journey through
Strong Deliverer, be Thou still my Strength and Shield

When I tread the verge of Jordan
Bid my anxious fears subside
Death of death, and hell's destruction
Land me safe on Canaan's side
Songs of praises, I will ever give to Thee

PRAYER 🙏🏽
Heavenly Father, I am grateful that you have planned to supply my food each day. I lift my hands to You my Jehovah Jireh. Please furnish my life with both the common and uncommon bread, that I may fulfill my calling in You O Christ. Amen.

Have a strength-filled Tuesday & stay safe!🙏🏽
