As an African watching this Iran-US war tension unfold, my heart is heavy… but my mind is also clear.
We know what war looks like. We’ve seen what foreign involvement can do to nations. So when powerful countries start exchanging threats and missiles, we don’t clap we worry.
Not because we are directly involved.
But because when giants fight, the ground shakes everywhere.
Oil prices rise. Food becomes more expensive. Inflation hits harder. And guess who feels it most? Ordinary people in places like Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa — everyday Africans just trying to survive.
The African Union has already called for restraint and dialogue and honestly, that’s the real African energy right now.
We are not eager to pick sides.
We are tired of global power struggles.
We want stability. We want peace.
Some Africans see U.S. involvement as another example of global dominance.
Others criticize Iran’s government and its own regional actions.
But one thing most of us agree on?
War is expensive. Peace is priceless.
Africa has its own battles poverty, insecurity, youth unemployment, development. We cannot afford the ripple effects of another global conflict.
Let the world powers remember:
Diplomacy saves lives.
Dialogue prevents chaos.
And ordinary people everywhere just want to live.
From Africa, the message is simple:
De-escalate. Talk. Choose peace. 🌍✌🏾
