Ben Carson had a thing for classical music.
He often wondered why he wasted his time on them. John Hopkins Medical Institution only accepted two applicants every year out of the averaged 125 applications. Ben Carson applied and and was called for an interview.
In the course of it, the man made a oblique reference to a concert he had attended and Ben said he was there. The man's face lit up and the interview became a conversation about classical music.
Out of the 125, Ben Carson was one of the two selected. Years later, he found out the man made a strong case for him to getting into John Hopkins.
