Why We Consulted Nine Doctors Across Countries — Mr Eazi, Temi - 1wk ago

Nigerian singer and entrepreneur Mr Eazi and his wife, actress Temi Otedola, have opened up about the intense medical consultations that shaped their journey to parenthood, revealing that they spoke to nine doctors in different countries before deciding where to have their first child.

The couple shared the story on an episode of their podcast, where they reflected on the uncertainty and excitement that followed the discovery of Temi’s pregnancy during their honeymoon in Asia. With their lives split across several countries and constant travel a part of their routine, the question of where to give birth quickly became a complex decision.

Mr Eazi explained that the consultations were not driven by fear, but by a desire to make an informed choice. They wanted to compare healthcare systems, birthing options, and support structures in multiple locations before settling on what felt safest and most comfortable.

“Why exactly did we see nine doctors?” he said on the podcast. “Nine doctors because we wanted options. We didn’t know where we were going to be. Which country? We didn’t know which country we were going to decide on. I wanted Japan.”

His fascination with Japan went beyond its healthcare reputation. Mr Eazi admitted he had gone as far as researching Japanese names for their baby, imagining a birth that would symbolically tie their child to a country he admires.

Temi, however, pushed back playfully. She recounted how her husband began suggesting Japanese names, a step she felt was several moves ahead of reality. “He’s also been looking at Japanese names and I’m like, no, absolutely not,” she said, laughing as she recalled the conversations.

Their light-hearted disagreement underscored a more serious theme: the pressure on modern, globally mobile couples to navigate pregnancy and childbirth across borders. For Mr Eazi and Temi, the process meant weighing family proximity, medical expertise, privacy, and the emotional comfort of familiar surroundings.

The pair, who held a private wedding ceremony in Iceland, have largely kept their relationship guarded from public scrutiny. Their decision to share intimate details of their pregnancy journey offered fans a rare glimpse into the private deliberations behind their public lives, revealing a couple determined to balance romance, responsibility, and global careers while preparing to welcome a child.
