Horror As Woman Catches Fire In UK Street As Passers By Try To Help - 18 hours ago

A woman is in critical condition after her clothing caught fire on a street in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Emergency responders were called to the scene near residential flats in the St Leonards area at approximately 12:10 p.m. on Monday, June 22. The woman suffered severe burns and was transported to hospital, where she remains in a life-threatening condition.

Video footage circulating online shows the woman on the ground desperately trying to remove her trousers as flames engulf the lower part of her body. Bystanders rushed to help, including two Royal Mail workers who attempted to extinguish the fire using clothing and a blanket.

Another woman was seen running toward the scene with water, which she poured over the flames, though the fire continued to burn. The footage ends with the injured woman lying on the pavement while members of the public continue their efforts to put out the fire.

Firefighters later arrived and successfully extinguished the blaze before leaving the area alongside police officers.

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the incident. However, Police Scotland said there is currently no indication of foul play.

A police spokesperson stated that officers received reports of a seriously injured woman outside flats on St Leonards Street shortly after midday on June 22. The woman was taken to hospital, where her condition was described as critical, and investigations remain ongoing.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that two fire appliances were dispatched to the incident at Carnegie Court Corner on Bowmont Place and that crews brought the fire under control.
