"THE WOMAN I CALL WIFE" (1) - 6 months ago

The sun had barely risen over the dusty hills of Plateau State, casting a golden glow over the small town of Jos. But for Panshak, the day had already taken a sinister turn. He stirred in his bed, feeling a strange numbness in his mouth and a throbbing headache. Little did he know, his life was about to take a deadly twist.

Panshak tried to shake off the feeling of unease as he watched Kyenpia prepare his breakfast. She seemed nervous, her eyes darting around the kitchen as she added a white substance to his food. But before he could question her, the housemaid, Ngozi, discreetly pulled him aside…

Ngozi's eyes locked onto Panshak's, her expression a mix of fear and urgency. "Sir, I need to tell you something," she whispered, glancing around the kitchen as if she suspected Kyenpia was listening. "I've seen Madam adding something to your food, something that doesn't look right."

Panshak's mind raced as he tried to process Ngozi's words. His wife, Kyenpia, was beautiful, charming, and calculating. He had always known she was ambitious, but he had never suspected she was capable of something sinister.

"What do you mean?" Panshak asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

Ngozi hesitated, her eyes darting towards Kyenpia, who was now busily cleaning the kitchen counters. "I've seen her adding a white powder to your meals, sir. I don't know what it is, but I think it might be poison."

Panshak felt a chill run down his spine. Poison? He couldn't believe it. He tried to recall any instances where he had felt unwell after eating, but his mind was a blank.

As the days went by, Panshak pretended to be oblivious to Kyenpia's suspicious behavior, all the while trying to gather evidence. He confided in Ngozi, who became his ally in uncovering the truth.

One night, Panshak decided to confront Kyenpia. He waited until she was asleep, then crept into their bedroom and searched her drawers. His heart raced as he found a small container labeled “cyanide.”

The truth hit him like a ton of bricks. His wife, the woman he loved and trusted, was trying to kill him.
