Attitudes (just Be Kind) - 4 months ago

Attitudes mean different things to different people, but the context I want to bring in here is our attitudes towards others because I so much like the old adage which says, "Do to others what you would want them to do to you."

I know that when you trust someone deeply, you might start taking them for granted, thinking their kindness will always keep them by your side no matter how you treat them. That is treating one carelessly because you know that no matter what you do, the person will always stick around.

For instance, a friend told me that she had this neighbour who always borrowed her belongings without returning them as promised, and that whenever she gave her anything even as her fellow student, she would have to go back and collect it. So one day, she simply told her that if she continues like this, she will stop giving her anything. And the neighbour replied, “My friend, I know you will always give me items because you are too kind to say no.”

I myself have always heard people say "I do not believe you will ever treat me badly. I am behaving this way because it is in my nature; it is part of my flaws." Hmm! Do you not think every person has flaws too?

One can simply be good by just understanding that certain attitudes hurt others and refrain from it, but you who think you own the world cannot adjust your own flaws so that people around you will be happy for once? One day you will be surprised at the beast you turned the person into.

I am not saying be nice, just be kind!

Do you know? You really  need people for this life's Journey. So, it is about understanding that kindness isn't a weakness to be exploited. It is a strength, but it doesn't mean being a doormat. We all have flaws, but that's no excuse for consistently poor behaviour.

The key is recognizing how our actions affect others and making an effort to be considerate.
Remember, the person you're taking for granted today might not always be there tomorrow.

Treat others with the respect and kindness you would  want for yourself. It is not about being perfect, but about making an effort to be better.
In the end, our attitudes shape our relationships and the world around us. Choose kindness, but don't let it come at the cost of your own well-being. Balance is key.
