I’ve always enjoyed writing, it has always been a way to express myself but I never thought my love for writing would win me a story contest. When Blogshop announced the contest, I was intrigued but hesitant. I had been using the platform for a while, mostly to share thoughts and small pieces here and there, but this felt bigger and a bit intimidating.
At first, I wasn’t sure if I should go for it. Self-doubt crept in quickly. I kept thinking, What if my story isn’t good enough? What if I don’t even make it past the first round? But something in me pushed forward. I decided to give it a try, not necessarily to win, but to have fun like I always did with writing.
Starting was the hardest part. I went through several drafts, struggling to find the right words. Sometimes the ideas flowed, other times it felt like every sentence was a battle. I second-guessed myself constantly. But through everything, I still kept writing. it felt good to be challenged.
After every I would wait anxiously to see if I made it to the next round. Submitting the final piece brought a mix of relief and anxiety. I knew I had done my best, but I didn’t know what to expect. When the results weren't announced as usual and I realized it was through voting another bount of anxiety started. When I saw my name among the winners, I had to read it twice to believe it because last check I had one of the lowest votes. I was genuinely shocked and incredibly happy.
Winning meant a lot to me. It wasn’t just about the recognition, though that felt amazing. It was about completing something I had poured my time and effort into, despite all the doubts. The entire process from drafting to editing to finally submitting taught me more about myself as a writer. I learned how to push through resistance, how to trust my voice, and how important it is to share what matters to you.
Since then, I’ve felt more confident in my writing. I’ve started new projects, and I’m more willing to share my work. This experience gave me a boost I didn’t know I needed.
A big thank you to Blogshop for creating a platform that encourages and supports writers like me. I’m grateful not only for the win but for the opportunity to grow through the process.
Thank you, Blogshop.
