The Costly Curse Of Being A Politician’s Data Boy - 10 hours ago

I can hardly think of a former spokesperson or data boy for a politician who achieved reasonable success in politics. They are abandoned in most cases and even distrusted by their principals later. The principals will look for a new, unsoiled reputation to replace you once yours is too soiled and unsafe to associate with.

Avoid serving as a data boy, big or small, if you're hoping to have some success even in politics. Your principal will pay you handsomely, which is the only thing to enjoy in most cases, but it's your reputation and public image they're paying for. Once sold, you might have little chance to compete politically with an already tainted public reputation.

When you lie, misinform, and manipulate people on behalf of someone, you are not insulated from accountability. In fact, you are most accountable, as your principal can always deny that he or she didn't ask you to represent him or her. You can hardly eat your cake and still have it.

Beware of the consequences of being a data boy to politicians. It is such a hard job to do, with dire personal consequences that may not appear to you immediately. The money is sweet, but it would cost you your honour, integrity, and shame, that is if these mean anything to you.
