Stumbled upon this online. I recognized it instantly from BILLIONAIRE'S CLUB;
A Nollywood classic that year. The plot was like:
So a struggling pharmacist marries a beautiful woman. He runs into his old classmates one day and they are made men, like stinking rich. Penury drives him to meet them to 'show him the way'. They are occultist and they tell him to sacrifice his wife. The guy no gree. They killed him and used his wife anyway. The man and his wife's ghost begin to hunt them, all the members of the club for vengeance. It was too much, they had to call their patron from India to come and intervene.
(That's them welcoming him from the airport in the picture)😁.
That night as they took him to the man's grave to vanquish the ghost. The man's ghost appeared and used koboko on the Indian man.😁
The man died instantly and everybody japa.💯
Na so I remember the story sha
It was scary and funny. I could totally watch this again but movies like these are hard to find on the internet. You can see clips online.💔
There was a time this was all we knew. Watch Nollywood film and laugh cause it was either funny or trying to pass a central message even with the humour. We always caught the moral lesson.
We eventually graduated to making those “Campus flicks” that sold like kilode. The time of Mercy Johnson, John Dumelo, Nonso Diobi, Jim Iyke, Tonto Dikeh and the likes. The movies began to portray some sort of lifestyle that the public soon began to copy.
After that time, Nollywood nose dived to mediocrity and what not.
The enlightened public began to seek out amusement from Hollywood content that had the drama and action they were yearning for.
It took a long time but Nollywood is back now. I have seen movies that have left me in awe and applauding.
Great stories, cutting edge production and Great acting.
One thing I know is
THE PLOT SHOULD ALWAYS COME FIRST
Make incredible movies not cliche flicks that make no sense. Great stories stand the test of time as seen in the Aki and Pawpaw era.
Paw paw has given us a lot of memes valid today❤️
The good old days.
