“Odogwu please”

I am sure you must have heard that phrase 😂

Watching Love in Every Word felt like watching pieces of real life gently unfold on screen. Produced by Omoni Oboli, this Nigerian romantic drama left a quiet but lasting impression on me. At its heart, the movie is about love—love that’s patient, persistent, and rooted in cultural truth. It’s not the flashy, fairy-tale kind of romance. It’s the kind that meets people where they are and challenges them to grow.

The character that stood out the most to me was Chioma, played by Bamike “Bambam” Olawunmi. There was something deeply honest about her performance. Chioma is not your typical romantic heroine. She’s guarded, sharp, and fiercely independent. She’s also clearly carrying emotional wounds from her past, and that shows in how she approaches love—with suspicion, with resistance. I related to her on a personal level, because sometimes it’s easier to push love away than to accept it when you’ve been hurt. But Obiora, her love interest, was a refreshing contrast. He was patient with her. He didn’t try to force her into his world—he invited her in, slowly. That stood out to me. We often think love has to be intense to be real, but this movie showed me that love can also be gentle. Steady. Soft.

One major moral lesson I took from Love in Every Word is this: love cannot grow where fear is in control. Chioma had to learn how to let go of fear, and that took real courage. Another lesson is that culture and values should not be lost in the name of “modern love.” Obiora never let go of who he was—his accent, his beliefs, his respect for tradition—and it was admirable. It reminded me that love should never cost you your identity. In the end, Love in Every Word is a reminder that vulnerability is not weakness. That healing often comes through connection. And that when love is expressed with truth and patience, it really can change a person.
