The UAE government has lifted visa restrictions on Nigerian passport holders, effective immediately. This announcement was made by the Nigerian Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, after a Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu. The agreement allows Nigerians to travel to the UAE without hindrance. Idris advised Nigerians to visit documentverificationhub.ae for detailed information on the updated visa conditions.
Idris stated that the agreement was reached following extensive discussions between Nigeria and the UAE regarding visa issues. Effective from July 15, Nigerian passport holders can now obtain visas for the UAE. A detailed statement is expected to be released later.
The visa ban was initially imposed by the UAE due to diplomatic disputes. Additionally, Emirates Airline suspended flights to Nigeria because the Central Bank of Nigeria was unable to remit approximately $85 million in revenue to the UAE. In June, after several meetings, the Nigerian government assured that the visa ban would soon be lifted and announced that it had paid 98 percent of $850 million owed.
