I hunger for recognition
Like a moth to fame's flame
Dreaming of wealth's sweet nectar
Chasing shadows with a name
They say "Seize life's throat,
Wrestling fate with bloodied hands,
Bite deep into destiny's flesh,
Plant your flag in golden lands."
Empty words echo hollow
Through civilization's halls
I watch dreams turn to dust
As another hero falls
What worth is remembrance
When memory fades like mist?
Kings and beggars alike
Cease to exist
Time's relentless drums
Beat our march to void
Each step measured precise
Each breath destroyed
You may wear your crown
Build towers to the stars
But time's acid rain
Will show what you are
Memories dissolve like sugar
In history's bitter tea
Fame bleeds to obscurity
Wealth to poverty
So I choose the waves
Their honest lullaby
Whispers truth unvarnished:
“All things must die"
