Sani Auwal Dankaka has officially emerged victorious in the highly contested election to become the 56th President-elect of the Ahmadu Bello University Students' Representative Council (ABU SRC) for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The election, which convened delegates, elected faculty representatives, chairmen, hall representatives, and hall governors at the ABU Assembly Hall, concluded after a high-stakes voting exercise that determined the next chapter of student leadership across the main and annex campuses.

Five cleared candidates stood for the presidential seat in a tightly contested ballot. Dankaka secured a decisive victory by pulling ahead of his top contender, Uthman Abdulmutallib (Cairo), and three other candidates.

  • Sani Auwal Dankaka: 26 votes (Winner)
  • Uthman Abdulmutallib (Cairo): 18 votes
  • Abdulwahab Bala: 14 votes
  • Yakubu Nuhu Abubakar (Malala): 7 votes
  • Abdulhadi Ibrahim (Danbaiwa): 4 votes

Following the announcement of the official results, delegatory representatives expressed confidence that the newly elected executive council will uphold transparency, foster student welfare, and bridge communication between the university administration and the broader student body over the coming year.

Dankaka will succeed the outgoing administration as the 56th President, assuming the helm of the council to lead ABUsites for the upcoming 12-month tenure.
