CHAPTER ONE

KAIRA was in class and staring at her books. She is an 18 year old African-American and is in her final year of high school. It was self study time and MISS TRICIA was sitting in a chair in front, reading a book too. She was probably too engrossed that she did not notice some students sleeping, making noise and others not reading at all. KAIRA was staring at her books and thinking. She was thinking of nothing and everything at the same time. Just when she decided to continue reading, her name was called. 

   "KAIRA THIEL", a feminine voice called out. KAIRA raised her head and stood up. "Yes ma'am", she answered. The principal, MRS ABIGIAL was standing in front of the class and it had gone silent when she came in. A lot of students had turn to look at KAIRA and some others were probably wondering why the principal came herself to summon somebody. "Pack your things, sign out and come with me", MRS ABIGIAL said. Now, the students had started murmuring. KAIRA closes her eyes, takes a deep breath and opens her eyes with a smile. She answered, "Yes ma'am". Packing up, KAI was getting teary, but she controlled it. A lot of things were going through her head as she signed out, but all she could think of was her parents and what they had probably done again.

  As she followed the principal, she was getting more emotional. "KAIRA", a small cute voice called out and she smiled at the sight of the three year old twins in front of her. They both ran and gave her a hug. She squats. "It has just been a day and you miss me this much?", she questions them both with a smile on her face. CARLY and CALEB give her a kiss on both cheeks and she laughs.
