Fast Food Manager Accused Of Spitting In Customer’s Food And Giving Her Herpes - 18 hours ago

An Oklahoma woman has filed a lawsuit after claiming she contracted HSV-1, commonly known as oral herpes, from food allegedly contaminated by an Arby’s employee.

Amanda Hendricks, a former manager at an Arby’s restaurant in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, has been charged with felony poisoning. Authorities allege that she deliberately spat into a customer's food during a late-night drive-thru order on March 28.

The customer, Jennica Church, said she frequently visited the fast-food chain but has since stopped. According to court documents, police began investigating after another employee reported witnessing a worker spit into a customer's meal.

Investigators obtained surveillance footage from the restaurant, which reportedly showed Hendricks preparing a sandwich and lowering her head toward the food, with saliva allegedly falling onto it.

Church, who had stopped by the restaurant after a bartending shift, later reported developing symptoms and was diagnosed with HSV-1. Following the discovery of the footage, police interviewed Hendricks and secured a warrant charging her with felony poisoning with intent to injure.

The incident has had a significant impact on Church's family, who feared they may have been exposed to the virus after sharing the meal. However, no other infections have been publicly reported.

As a result, Church and several family members have filed a civil lawsuit against Hendricks, Arby’s, and related restaurant entities, seeking damages over the alleged contamination and its consequences.
