Experts are sounding alarms as the data indicates that malaria cases peak during the rainy season! With mosquitoes breeding like crazy, the situation is set to worsen unless urgent and targeted interventions are put into action.

The figures are staggering: from January to March, around 10,517,416 Nigerians were tested for malaria. That number skyrocketed to a shocking 11,449,804 from April to June, and then surged again to 12,878,508 by the third quarter, totaling a jaw-dropping 34,845,728 individuals tested for malaria within just nine months!

Out of those tests, a staggering 7,301,279 were confirmed positive in the first quarter alone. If that’s not alarming enough, the second quarter saw this figure rise to 7,841,483, and by the third quarter, it reached a staggering 9,324,470 case confirmations! The total number of confirmed cases for 2025 is a shocking 24,467,232!

In response to this crisis, the use of Artemisinin-based Combination Therapy (ACT) has also seen a dramatic uptick, with 23,851,430 individuals treated for uncomplicated malaria over the nine-month period.
