At the break of dawn,
I am awakened by the sounds of church bells.
Bearly awake, I heard a knock on my door.
My maid called out,
“Sir,it's time, wake up”.
It hit me, it was today.
The day I dread with passion.
For a second, the thoughts of running crossed my mind.
I got dressed, wore my suit and put on a fake smile.
The cathedral, was bearly a stones throw away, from where I spent the night.
As I was walked down the aisle, I saw the face of who I had been betrothed to.
As she smiled, I walked like a lamb to the slaughter.
For my heart wasn't with her. Infact it wasn't with anyone. I just wanted to be free.
Though for the greater good, I was bound to be with her. My happiness, sold out for the profit of others. To many present, it was a union of two love birds. To me it was a business arrangement. And I was the sacred lamb.
