AIK Begin Negotiations For Yohanna Sale - 1wk ago

Swedish giants AIK have confirmed they are in advanced negotiations over the potential sale of Nigerian forward Zadok Yohanna, a move that could deliver one of the most lucrative player-trading profits in the club’s recent history.

Yohanna, 18, joined AIK from Ikon Allah FC of Kaduna on a four-and-a-half-year contract and has quickly emerged as one of the brightest young prospects in Scandinavian football. After initially being eased into the setup, he forced his way into the first team, contributing goals and assists in limited appearances and drawing attention from major European clubs.

AIK disclosed that current bids for Yohanna fall into their highest internal transfer category, known as Class VIII, which represents a net profit of more than 130,000 kSEK, roughly €12,000, after all associated costs are deducted. The club recently expanded its transfer classification system to include Classes VII and VIII, covering profits from 70,000 to over 130,000 kSEK, underlining the scale of the expected windfall.

According to AIK, the profit calculation follows UEFA’s “Player Trading” definition, which factors in revenue from the sale minus agent fees, selling expenses, solidarity or training compensation to previous clubs, and the player’s remaining book value. Yohanna’s deal, therefore, represents a significant return on a relatively modest initial investment, achieved in just over a year.

While AIK have not revealed the identity of the club or clubs involved in negotiations, Yohanna has been linked in recent months with interest from the English Premier League and Ligue 1. Tottenham Hotspur and Rennes are among those reported to be monitoring his progress, attracted by his blend of pace, direct running, and composure in front of goal.

On the pitch, Yohanna has already delivered decisive performances in both league and cup competitions for AIK, including a brace in a Swedish Cup tie against BK Häcken and further goals in subsequent fixtures that showcased his instinctive finishing and movement in the penalty area.

Off the pitch, his rapid rise has created tension between club and country. AIK recently declined to release him for Nigeria’s Unity Cup engagement in London, citing his importance to the team and his ongoing recovery from a minor injury, a decision that underlined how central he has become to their sporting and financial plans.

AIK have stated they will issue a formal announcement once negotiations are concluded, leaving Yohanna’s next destination the subject of intense speculation across both Swedish and Nigerian football circles.
