WHEN YOU PRAY

🎯📖 Matthew 6:9 “When you pray, pray like this…”

When the disciples of Jesus asked Him to teach them to pray, His opening words were, “when you pray, pray like this.”
He spoke emphatically like an examiner giving a student the area of concentration. Of the two sentences, the first conveys the frequency of prayers while the second warns of the quality of the prayers. If these two indices are overlooked we shall be the victims of an impoverished prayer life and also plagued by unanswered prayers. Do you wish to be fruitful in prayers? Then, when you pray, pray like this:

👉🏽 WHEN YOU PRAY
1 Thessalonians 5:17 “pray always.”

Jesus did not say ‘if you pray.’ But, when you pray! This implies an expectation that we ought to pray at all times as the passage above charges us to. Why so? Remember that Isaiah 43:2 revealed that when we go through the fires and waters we shall be persevered. It says “when” and not “if”. As we go from our Egypt to Canaan, we shall go through the deserts. When we face our challenges, God wants to hear our voices in prayers and not our complaints, grumbling or rantings. So we are charged to pray at all times. Corrie Ten Boom rightly says, “Don't pray when it rains if you don't pray when the sun shines. Because any concern too small to be turned into a prayer is too small to be made into a burden. Do you want to live a victorious life? God will answer when you pray.

👉🏽 PRAY LIKE THIS
Isaiah 1:15 “When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.”

Though God charges us to pray at all times, He will not accept just any person’s prayer or any kind of prayer. Though the frequency and intensity of prayer is good, God also evaluates the quality of the prayer. Jesus said pray like this. This implies there is a recommended model, a certified template and an approved format. It must come from His Word and must conform to His will. That is why we must yield to the Holy Spirit’s leading in prayer. If we are not praying according to His will, then we are just playing. How is your prayer life? Do you wish to have a fruitful prayer life? Then, when you pray, pray like this.

PRAYER 🙏🏽 
Almighty God, please deliver from praying less and praying amiss. As I surrender to You! Please rekindle my passion for prayer and ignite my altar with a holy fire, that the frequency and quality of my prayers may be pleasing to you in Jesus name. Amen.
