The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, is making headlines with its latest crackdown on crime, boasting a staggering 34 arrests across all 18 local government areas!
The alleged criminals captured in this wide-ranging sweep are accused of a slew of offenses: kidnapping, theft, anti-grazing law violations, and burglary. During a press briefing that seemed to bask in the glow of success at Amotekun's headquarters in Akure, Commander Akogun Adetunji Adeleye detailed the sensational operation titled ‘Operation Le Won Jade’ (Operation Flush Them Out).
“We are parading 16 suspects as part of the ongoing Operation Le Won Jade in Ondo State,” Adeleye announced, proudly showcasing the force behind this mission. He stressed that the operation has been pivotal in driving away those pesky miscreants and bandits lurking in the state’s forests. “The total number of arrests in the last week is 34. Out of the 34, we are parading 16,” he reiterated, clearly reveling in the agency’s achievements.
Among the notable suspects is a group caught red-handed vandalizing government property using heavy welding equipment! How brazen! Adeleye also pointed out specific offenders, like a 24-year-old named Abubakar nabbed in Ogbese for anti-grazing violations and Olamiju, a 35-year-old suspected kidnapper.
In a move that responds to the nationwide surge of school kidnappings, Amotekun’s Commander announced that the agency is stepping up to protect educational institutions. “In light of recent security breaches and kidnappings, we have commenced enhanced patrols of all boarding schools in the state,” he declared, clearly addressing the fears on everyone’s mind.
Adeleye boasted of the agency's proactive measures, stating they’ve already visited numerous schools, focusing their efforts on those in border towns and outskirts. “We have mounted surveillance on all those schools with boarding facilities, especially the ones in the border towns. Our 24-hour patrol activities have also been intensified, particularly during this ember month,” he explained, leaving no doubt about their commitment to safety.
He sought to reassure residents that security agencies are on high alert to protect lives and property. “I want to reassure residents of the state that the security agencies are ensuring that the safety of lives and property in Ondo State is guaranteed,” Adeleye emphasized, making it clear that their focus is unwavering.
Earlier in November, Amotekun had also apprehended 16 illegal immigrants and 22 individuals linked to various criminal activities,a testament to their relentless pursuit of law and order in Ondo State.
