Dearest Students,
Earlier today, we received a very devastating news.
One of our very own, a 400-level student of our faculty, Akorede Funmilayo, had passed away from acute kidney injury this morning.
Korede had slumped earlier this morning, and as a result of the impending doctor’s strike, could not receive blood donation. He passed away at Gbagada General Hospital.
Korede’s death defies all normal order. It’s one that brings tears, heartbreak, weakness and pain to every course mate, member and student of this faculty. We have, since morning, been with his family and relations to send our condolences.
In honour of the late friend, we will be having a candlelight session on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the Faculty. We will thereafter have a march around school at said time to honour his passing.
The exact time, dress code and exact hall to be used will be communicated very soon. Let us all come out en masse in the symbolic public act of remembrance.
We pray God keeps preserving us all for the goodwill to come.
Thank you.
Signed,
Ayomide Adegboro,
President, Communication and Media Studies Students’ Association, UNILAG.
